This spaghetti sauce recipe is one of my "go to" recipes. I make this when I know I am going to have a busy or stressful day and I know that dinner will be easy and be something that everyone in the house will enjoy.
I am not much of a fruit eater but I really liked this apple salad recipe. It makes a lot and was even good for breakfast the next day.
Easy Crockpot Spaghetti Sauce
1 lb Italian sausage
1 lb ground beef
2 (15 oz) cans diced tomatoes, undrained
1 onion, chopped
1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1Tbsp. sugar
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tsp basil
Spaghetti cooked and kept warm
In a skillet brown sausage, ground beef, onion and bell pepper. Drain well and place in a crockpot with all remaining ingredients except spaghetti. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until done. This sauce freezes well.
Apple Salad
6-8 apples, cored and chopped
1 C raisins
Hot water as needed
2 stalks celery, finely sliced
1 C salad dressing like Miracle Whip
2 Tbsp sugar
¼ C milk
Juice from 1 lemon
Combine the lemon juice and water and pour over the apples, set aside. Pour hot water over the raisins to cover and let set for 5 minutes. Drain off water from the raisins. In a mixing bowl combine salad dressing, sugar, and milk. Drain off lemon water from the apples and add apples, raisins and celery to the bowl. Mix well. Let chill at least an hour before serving.
